The Week Moves On

One new water heater later, the world moves on and it's Tuesday already.  Monday was just ducky as I felt like I was behind all day, started off the day with a cold shower and our water heater shot craps.  It was almost 10 years old so I guess it was time but what a pain.

TRAINING
Last week.
Biking : 58 miles
Running : 19.5 miles
Swimming : 4500 yards
Not the totals you spring IM people are putting up, but I'm not crazy enough to run a spring IM.  =)

I did get a notice from Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike Race lottery:

Dear Leadville Race Series Family,
We regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your application for the
2011 Leadville Trail 100 MTB race. In order to offer the nation’s highest quality athletic
experience with the utmost degree of safety, medical care, and racer support, we are
unable to accommodate every interested rider. We do not offer a waiting list, and are
unable to accept entries for 2012.

However, their are several alternative entry avenues. For the first time ever,
Leadville Race Series is introducing three qualifying races that will offer 100 spots each
into the Leadville Trail 100 MTB race. Check out the LT 100 MTB Qualifiers tab on
leadvilletrail100.com.

For the fourth year, the Leadville Trail 100 has partnered with Carmichael Training Systems
(CTS) to deliver coaching and training for our running and cycling events. Camp participants
will earn guaranteed entries into the race and the race entry fee is included in the camp fee.
CTS hosts five 2-day camps in July 2011 in preparation for the LT100 mountain bike race.
CTS will be holding an online lottery for spots in their LT100 camps and LT100 Ultimate
Coaching Packages, and you can register for their lottery starting March 1 through 10am MST
on March 10. Call CTS at 866-355-0645, or visit trainright.com/LT100 for details.

One final option is to be a Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation Gold Sponsor. Your
race entry fee plus a $2000 donation to our local non-profit gives you entry to the race
and provides funding for Lake County High School scholarships and other beneficial
community events and groups. These limited Gold Sponsor spots are offered on a firstcome,
first-served basis. Please contact Shannon at sgipson@lifetimefitness.com beginning
Friday, March 18 to be a Gold Sponsor.

As an alternative, we encourage you to consider entering our Silver Rush 50 MTB in July.
You will get the same Leaville experience in a fabulous race at altitude through the historic
east side mining district. We also have the 12/24 Hours of Leadville race September 3-4.
This race features a beautiful course with a festival atmosphere. Put a team together or go
solo! More information about all our events is available at leadvilletrail100.com.

Lastly, we always need and welcome volunteers for any and all of our events. Not only is it
very rewarding to help other racers achieve their goals, but preference for the 2012 entry
process is granted to those who are able to help out!

We are grateful for your enthusiasm and dedication to the Leadville Race Series

At least they give us options, like WTC and contributing for foundation spots.... for $2000, are you kidding me? If I had the time and money for a training camp, it would be tempting.  Oh well.  There was probably little chance that I could have raced it had I got in but it's always fun to dream.  Maybe I'll pick up a KC 3 or 6 hour mountain bike race.

EXAMINER
Olathe Running Club is offering discounts for the Oz Marathon here in KC and the KC Track Club introduced a new race series rounding up several 5k's to wrap up in one package.  Also, some FELT road bikes have been RECALLED!  Check to see if yours is on the list.

I am sorry that you did not get into Leadville. They do have a 50 mile option that you might consider. It is sometime before the 100 and is a pretty interesting race. My friend did it last year. Let me know if you are interested and I will find out the details for you.
