Celebrate the art of the mustache! Join us at the Mustache Dash 5K where we encourage all participants to enjoy wearing a mustache, real or fake. Participants in the 5K will receive a shirt, fake mustache kit, and finisher's medal in addition to a great chip-timed course. The 5K will be followed by the Lil' Shavers Fun Run which will range from 50-200 yards based on kids' ages. Participants in the Lil' Shavers run will receive a shirt and ribbon. This event will benefit Infant Toddler Services of Johnson County who fosters and coordinates the delivery of timely, comprehensive, quality services for children aged birth to thirty-six months who have developmental delays or disabilities. October 26 @ 7 pm Monster Dash 5K City Market, Kansas City, MO Join the spooky holiday fun at the Monster Dash 5K. The chip-timed course is flat and fast as it winds through the City Market. The 5K will be followed by the Lil' Monsters Fun Run for kids ages 8 and under. As a participant, you will receive a shirt and a large decorative finisher's medal! You will also enjoy an aid station, large mile markers, great post-race food and beverages and have a great chance at a PR! Awards will be given to the top overall, masters, top three in each age group, top individual costume, and top group costume. The Monster Dash 5K will benefit Newhouse in Kansas City. Their mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing the tools which allow women to make positive choices and lead self-sufficient lives. |

As part of the Harrisonville area's annual Burnt District Festival, the Grin and Bear it 5K will be on a course lined with beautiful, historic homes. Held in memory of Cara Roberts, the event will benefit the Patient Assistance Fund which helps patients at Cass Regional Medical Center with needs such as medication, home care supplies, and transportation. October 5 @ 8 am The Barstow School Mind. Body. Character. 5K The Barstow School, Kansas City, MO October 6 @ 8 am Pink Laundry 5K Lee's Summit City Hall, Lees Summit, MO Rated the best mid-size course by the Kansas City Sports Commission, the Pink Laundry 5K offers a beautiful course through downtown Lee's Summit. The race benefits the Stephanie Vest Foundation whose mission is to help local families who are fighting cancer by giving hope in a time of need. Your participation will provide local families with financial help through their battles with cancer. October 6 @ 8 am John Glaser 5K Fire Station 71, Shawnee, KS This event benefits the John Glaser Memorial Fund and the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). SAFE supports the families of Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Services Personnel in the Kansas City metropolitan area who have perished while protecting our community and our citizens. Participants will receive a cotton race shirt, raffle prizes, top overall, masters, and 5 year age group awards. October 6 @ 9 am 5K4MJ Celebration Park, Gardner, KS The 5K4MJ partners with local COPD Pulmonary Rehabilitation centers to assist in extending COPD Patient rehabilitation services. Pulmonary Rehabilitation centers extend services to COPD patients which qualify and may not be able to afford rehabilitation services and/or transportation to the rehabilitation centers. Help raise awareness and funds to find a cure for COPD by participating in the 5K4MJ. In addition to the 5K, this event features a kids fun run and a COPD honoree walk. October 12 @ 8 pm Glow Run 5K Mass Street, Lawrence, KS Be a part of the coolest Glow Run on the planet! Thousands of runners & walkers will light up Mass Street and downtown Lawrence as they make their way through the course and party late into the night! Be sure to stick around for the post event after party and The LIGHT EM' UP Experience! Hundreds of giveaways will be tossed to the crowd from the main stage to help enhance the experience! The event benefits the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. October 13 @ 8 am Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run for BackSnack Zona Rosa, Kansas City, MO Your participation in the 3rd Annual Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run for BackSnack will help the Northland Childhood Hunger Initiative Fund (NCHIF) partnering with Harvesters to expand its BackSnack program in Clay and Platte Counties to feed the more than 3,200 Northland children who are in need of a backpack of food for the weekend. The 5K course runs through Zona Rosa and will be chip-timed; the 5K walk will not be timed. Awards will be given to the top overall, top masters, and top three in each age group. October 13 @ 8 am Lace Up for Learning 5K Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS This 5K starts and finishes at Johnson County Community College (JCCC). Participants will receive a shirt, chip-timing, a special gift for finishers, team pricing, age group awards, and food and beverages! Your participation in this event supports scholarships for JCCC students. At JCCC, the small faculty-student ratio and extensive student support services help students be successful. October 19 @ 7:05 am Kansas City Marathon Crown Center, Kansas City, MO The 2013 Waddell & Reed Kansas City Marathon with Ivy Funds is partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise awareness and funds to fight blood cancers. With a distance for runners of all levels, this event consists of the marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, 5K, and kids' marathon. Stay around after your race for the Finish Line Festival where you can enjoy a complimentary barbecue sandwich and more! October 26 @ 9 am The Great Pumpkin Race 5K Horizon Academy, Roeland Park, KS The first annual Great Pumpkin Race celebrates Horizon Academy's 15th anniversary - where students have carved out a great education for 15 years! Enjoy a healthy, fall morning of fun --- face painting, pumpkin painting and snacks. Start a team and bring the whole family! There will be a kids fun run starting at 8:45 am followed by the 5K run/walk at 9 am. Costumes are welcomed. There will be prizes for age group winners and best costume. Proceeds from the event go to the Horizon Academy Scholarship Fund. |
