For those of you following along...
I'm on board for $5000 for Ride to Give and Mended Little Hearts in conjunction with racing Ironman Chattanooga 2014 (www.Tri4aHandUp.com).
We're at about $300 and the $5000 needs to be reached by September 28, 2014, which is race day. So, we are making progress and it may be tough sledding right now while the holidays are coming up and funds may go to Christmas shopping.
BUT, what better way to hit two birds with one stone than to get in on a shirt made by Bigfish Screen Printing for a St. Louis family that has a small son with severe pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vein stenosis. Great gift for yourself or someone else and helping out a great cause at the same time!
Our son was born with pulmonary hypertension, but he was treated with breathing treatments and that got him out of the woods. Unfortunately Triston Walls needed several surgeries to make it to today and is looking at needing perhaps a lung transplant in the future.
Buying the $10 shirt affords Bigfish to contribute funds back to the Walls to help with medical and travel expenses and supports the mission of Mended Little Hearts!
From Triston's Facebook page:
"BigFish Screenprinting has designed a t-shirt just for Triston (they also did this fundraiser for Caleb…who got to go home today after a heart transplant and 5 months in the hospital!). This company is amazing because they keep no profits whatsoever for themselves. They will all go to Triston (about $6 for every t-shirt).
To me…the design is absolutely perfect. Here are the designer’s thoughts around the design and the verse they used. “The double lung transplant being depicted as tree roots and at the very top…God’s heart. Relating back to the verse, the good and perfect gift (lungs) comes from above (God’s heart).” I love it.
Follow the link below if you would like to order. The shirts are only $10. There is an option to pick up in St. Louis or Kansas City which will be at a Mended Little Hearts Meeting. We will give you those dates later. Or you can pay to have them shipped to you. If someone wants to volunteer to be the pickup location in Ste. Genevieve…I will be happy to bring all of these back from the meeting to save you all shipping. However I can’t have everyone come to our house because Triston’s new medicine is an immunosuppressant.
Also please share. With what is looming in Triston's future...it will all go to good use.
Thanks you BigFish and Emily Falkenrath who helped put this all together!! And thanks in advance to all those that order!!"
