Olathe Complete Streets Meeting for BikeWalkKC

Today we have updates on two items of interest to Olathe residents...

1. Olathe Complete Streets discussion

We had a great turnout and a great discussion last month. Lots of great stuff is going on in Olathe and people want to see even more. Please save the date for our follow-up meeting to continue talking about Complete Streets and other ideas like applying for the Bicycle Friendly Community and Walk Friendly Community awards.

Olathe Complete Streets Discussion #2
Wednesday, March 14th at 6:45 p.m.
Indian Creek Library
Info and RSVP at http://bikewalkkc.org/olathe/march2012

2. Support Kansas Rail Trails

There is legislation pending in the Kansas House of Representatives to impose property taxes on rail trails and the nonprofits that build and maintain trails. This would discourage development of new trails and place an a huge burden on small nonprofits like the Kanza Rail Trails Conservancy. It would also jeopardize BikeWalkKC's vision for connecting the Flint Hills Nature Trail with the Katy Trail State Park.

Visit http://bikewalkkc.org/kansasrailtrails to learn more and contact your legislator today.  The bill is scheduled for a hearing Monday afternoon, so time is of the essence.
