April 2013 Kansas City Running Events



Great Balls of Fire 5K Run/Walk
Saturday, April 6 @ 8am
Sports Medicine and Metro Running Store 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park, KS
Be a part of the inaugural "Great Balls of Fire" 5K to support Testicular Cancer Awareness. The race will be run from behind Sports Medicine & Metro Running conveniently located at 95th and Metcalf in Overland Park.  Top overall winners receive a free pair of Brooks shoes and those who sign up two additional participants get a free pair of orthotics!

Eagle Egg 5K Run/Walk
Saturday, April 6 @ 9am
Summit Christian Academy in Lee's Summit, MO
The 4th Annual Eagle Egg 5K Run/Walk is hosted by Summit Christian Academy and is followed by a fun run for children 6 and under.  Join us for one of the fastest races in the Kansas City area that includes a fantastic post-race, fun children's activities, great race shirt, and chip timing.  

Glow Run 5K
Saturday, April 6 @ 8pm
Hearnes Center on the University of Missouri Campus in Columbia, MO
The Glow Run 5k Run/Walk event is a one of a kind night time experience that is less about how fast you run and more about enjoying the music filled glowing course with your friends and family. Glow Run participants come in all different speeds, age, shapes and sizes, all of whom are ready to GLOW. 

Running With Convoy 5K 
Saturday, April 6 @ 9am
Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO
The Running with Convoy 5K is a unique running experience. At each kilometer, participants will take in the culture from each of the four regions that Convoy of Hope serves. This event is far greater than just a unique race. The Running with Convoy 5K is an opportunity for individuals or teams to raise donations for Convoy of Hope's programs like the Children's Feeding Initiative that feeds 120,000 children in seven different countries.

MDA 5K Run/Walk
Sunday, April 7 @ 9am
Truman Sports Complex - Kansas City, MO
Participants will enjoy a course around the Truman Sports complex, and each runner and walker will receive an event t-shirt and the chance to win age group awards. All participants are invited inside the Club Level of Arrowhead Stadium at the conclusion of the race to enjoy vendor booths and entertainment followed by the closing ceremony and walking of a "victory lap" with MDA friends and families

Rock the Parkway Half Marathon and 5K
Saturday, April 13 @ 7:30am
Burns and McDonnell - 9400 Ward Parkway Kansas City, MO
Be a part of what has been voted the best large race in Kansas City!  Benefiting Science City at Union Station, this event has live music, great food and beverages, high quality tech shirts and a great course!  The Half Marathon is sold out but there are still some slots left in the 5K so sign up today!

Leawood Midnight Run 5K for Special Olympics

Check out this flat and fast course on Tomahawk Creek Parkway in Leawood, Kansas. The race benefits Special Olympics and Arvest Bank, will be providing a BBQ for the first 150 people at our Midnight Run packet pick-up event on Thursday, April 18 from 5:00 - 7:00 at the City Park in Leawood.

Spring into Fitness 5K

Spring Into Fitness 5K Run & Family Fun Run/Walk is sponsored by Kansas Action for Healthy Kids in partnership with MidAmerica NazareneUniversity School of Business.  Spring Into Fitness will raise funds to support wellness grants in Kansas schools that promote wellness initiatives and kickoff Let's Move In School. 

Head for the Cure 5K

Flat Branch Park - Columbia, MO 
Whether you're a casual walker, a competitive runner or anything in between, the 3rd annual Head for the Cure 5K - Columbia is an event you don't want to miss!  Participants can register as individuals or as part of a team honoring someone affected by brain cancer.  Medals and prizes awarded to the top overall male and female finisher, the top overall Masters (40+) male and female finisher, and to the top three male and female finishers in all age groups.

Kansas Half Marathon and 5K
Sunday, April 21 @ 7:30am
9th and New Hampshire St. - Lawrence, KS
Participants in all events will enjoy running along one of the most historic and beautiful areas of Lawrence.  All Kansas Half Marathon events start and finish at 9th & New Hampshire Streets and the course will take participants through downtown and the surrounding area.  Health Care Access Clinic is proud to present this event, the proceeds of which will support their mission to facilitate access to health services for residents of Douglas County.
