www.Tri4aHandUp.com #GIVEAWAY No. 1 for 2014 Results

The first week giveaway results for ReInfinitize recovery formula.

After tracking the donations, there was no need for a drawing for week 1 as there were only 2 entries and it was the same person.  Congrats!  Easy win!  Enjoy your Evolution Solution!

Hopefully next week's raffle draws a little more interest.  ;)

And now, we return to lovely spring weather in Kansas City.  April 14, 30's and snowing.  Yeah.  Time to turn on the ole sprinkler system... or not.

www.Tri4aHandUp.com #GIVEAWAY No. 1 for 2014! Evolution Solution ReFinitize Endurance Recovery Formula

It's time... time to give some stuff away!

So those that have followed this blog, you have noticed I do a fair share of product reviews.  Some are great, some are good, some are so-so and some don't happen since the product didn't work out for one reason or another.

Well, those people that have sent me the products are on board with helping me reach my fundraising goals for Ironman Texas ($1500 goal), Ironman 70.3 ($600 goal) Kansas and Ironman Chattanooga ($5000 goal).   Check out last week's post for the update on the numbers.  It's coming along, but we need more!  This is all a part of my master www.Tri4aHandUp.com fundraising scheme for 2014.

I have a shelf in the basement full of stuff to give away to my readers, followers, fans and supporters.  I'm taking a huge leap of faith setting up online raffles will result in contributions and not be a bust for the great people that sent me products.

This week kicks off a giveaway hopefully EVERY WEEK!  That does require me to get some reviews done asap to review the product before giving away the extra.

How do you get in?

Each giveaway entry is counted by a contribution to one of the fundraising pages.  Each giveaway will have a unique amount to donate so I can keep track of what's an entry and what's a regular donation.  I get emails from each page when someone contributes, so they all get counted.  You can enter as many times as you want.

You can contribute to either page:
http://www.active.com/donate/kickstartyourheart/T4AHUIMTX
https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/6b2s7/ab/61quY2

How do you win?

I will number each entry and hit random.org to randomly generate a winner. I will keep generating numbers until someone gets 3 hits and then they win!

How do you get your prize?

Pay attention to this blog and the Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/Tri4aHandUp.  Winners will be announced and I will have you email me your address for shipping.

Who is eligible?

Anyone in North America.  No overseas shipping UNLESS you are in the armed services and you have a North American shipping address that ships items to you.

What's up for grabs this week?

Evolution Solution ReFinitize Triple Chocolate Explosion Endurance Recovery Formula, 3.59 pound serving, expires 11/14

Check out my reviews:

In recognition of LA Marathon a few weeks ago, entry will be $2.62 at either site.  Enter as many times as you want!  Entry closes 11:59pm central time on Saturday, April 12.

You can contribute to either page:

2013 Kansas City Marathon, Ride to Give and PlanetBox

October 19th, 2013 is the Kansas City Marathon!

...and this would make year 4 of running the full marathon.

Ya, I just got done with Ironman Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago, but I feel recovered and good enough to pound out a short 26.2 miles.

What's that mean to you?  Well, it's a chance to win a PlanetBox Launch Lunch Box!

Yep, the very one I reviewed HERE is up for grabs!  It's $75 worth of lunch box, containers and a messenger bag carrier.

Here's how to get in.

As you may know reading the blog, I'm raising funds for Tri 4 a Hand Up Charities.

So to keep the momentum going, I'm offering up the PlanetBox for someone who guesses my exact race time and donates that amount on the Fundrazr page.

So, if you think I am a super athlete and can run the 26.2 in 3 hours, 31 minutes and 10 seconds, you round to the nearest penny, donate $3.31 and write in your whole time guess on the Fundrazr timeline.

Directions
  1. Guess my time
  2. Donate that in dollars per hour and minute on the Fundrazr page
  3. Write a comment on your time in hours : minutes : seconds for the KC marathon time guess.

Make sense?

To give you perspective on my athletic prowess, here are some past results:
2005 Dublin Marathon - 5:11:27
2010 KC Marathon - 3:53:10
2011 KC Marathon - 3:52:05
2011 KC North Face Endurance Challenge Marathon - 4:12:12
2012 KC Marathon - 3:52:57
2013 Ironman Lake Tahoe marathon time - 4:49:11

I think it would be safe to say, it won't be much below 3:45.  I feel good, but not superhuman good.

Here's the catch, since I will mail the PlanetBox on my own dime, I need the total raised to exceed at least the shipping cost.  I would suspect it will cost around $15 to ship, so all donations for this contest need to total more than $15.

We also need a minimum of 20 guesses.

So share with your friends, get people to donate (TAX FREE!) and hide and watch on 10/19/13.

AND, please have trust that I won't finish on a per-determined time to rig the contest and in the event of a tie, the PlanetBox will go to the first person to guess that time.  So, don't double guess someone's time and check the Fundrazr activity for previous guesses.

THANKS!

That's a BINGO! #910XTContest WINNER!

Well, hopefully everyone got what they wanted from Christmas...

Whether it be that perfect triathlon gift, not having the world end on December 21 or a big ole turkey for Christmas dinner, hopefully you got what you wanted out of the holidays.

I wanted to throw a little contest to end the year on a high note for someone lucky enough to get a Garmin 910XT. The CONTEST ran from Dec 10th to Dec 24th at 11:59pm. The catch was that we needed 75 individuals to enter the contest. Well, we only got 32 which put me in a conundrum. I wanted a little more mileage from the contest, but at the same time I didn't want to short change the people that put effort into it to enter. I did get a lot of new likes on the MVT Facebook page which some were not the same people entering the contest. Hopefully if you wanted to enter, you posted on the blog as requested so I could track you!

In the end, I decided to go ahead and hold the drawing!

Thanks to my excel spreadsheet and random.org, I found a winner. Each entrant was added and for each point earned, they got an entry. For instance Mark B jumped through enough hoops to score 17 points, so he gets 17 entries and so on. Then, each entry was given a number starting with 1 for the first entrant and then we just went down the line for each subsequent point earned. In all, we had 32 people complete enough tasks to earn 250 points.

So, I went to random.org with the number 1 through 250 and the person that got to 5 hits first on the combination of any of their entry points, won.

Clear as mud?

Anyway, drum roll please.....

Megan C (Megan) from Arizona won! Her comment was; "16 points for me. Would LOVE to win this, thank you for the chance! Spreading the word and hope you reach 75 entries. -Megan C from Arizona."

As a side note, Megan was scrambling to get more people to enter. She convinced her husband to jump through the hoops as well on Christmas Eve night threatening to withhold dinner. Congrats on the hard work, it paid off!

Email me at falkeetriathlon at hotmail dot com with your address and I will get it sent asap!

Sorry to Mark B (Mark) and Scotty B (ScottyB), you came soooo close with 4 hits, but in the end, Megan would not be denied.

Win a New In The Box Garmin 910XT GPS multisport watch!

The holidays are upon us, and I've not lost the fact that my readership has grown...
So I'm pulling out the stops and holding a pretty darn sweet contest.

From now until December 24, 2012 at 11:59pm CST, you can comment on this post to win a NEW IN THE BOX Garmin 910XT.  I have never used one, but I wrangled up two.  One for me, and one for all of my readers / followers / friends and strangers to battle it out for.

If you don't know about the Garmin 910XT, then check back in as we test a new one out (aside from the one in this giveaway) for our experience or check out Ray Maker's blog for HIS REVIEW.

The contest is for;

Heart Rate Monitor Version
  • Forerunner 910XT
  • Premium heart rate monitor
  • USB ANT Stick
  • AC charger
  • Charging clip
  • Expander strap
  • Manual

How am I able to do this, you ask?  Do I make so much at my day job that I can just buy this stuff and give it away?  Like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, give it away, give it away, give it away now?  No.  Through Examiner and the Man Vs Endurance store, I received a VERY modest income that is self sustaining enough for website hosting and inventory for the store.  It's eeking out a profit to sustain itself and I wanted to re-invest into it with this contest.

Here's how to get entered;

1 point - Follow @TriJayhawkRyan on twitter.

1 point - Follow @ManVsTriathlon on twitter.

1 point - Like Man Vs Triathlon on Facebook page.

1 point - Like Kansas Jayhawk Basketball Examiner Facebook page.

1 point - subscribe to the email list under my profile on the blog on the left column.

1 point - Become a follower of my blog through google, see the link on the left column under my bio.

1 point - Follow me on Google Plus.  Just look me up, Ryan Falkenrath.

1 point - Post a link to this contest on your Facebook wall.

1 point - If you are military past or present, you get an extra point.

1 point - Post this to twitter, "RT @TrijayhawkRyan is giving away a Garmin 910XT. Check it out! #910XTContest".

1 point - Repost this as a link on your blog.

10 points - Buy a Man Vs Triathlon or Running shirt from the Man Versus Endurance store and take a picture of you wearing it and post it on the MVT Facebook page or on twitter, mentioning @ManVsTriathlon or @TriJayhawkRyan with hashtag #910XTcontest.

2 points - Subscribe to Endurance Sports Examiner to only receive email notifications when articles are published.  Examiner will not send any other email to you other than article notifications.

2 points - Subscribe to Kansas Jayhawk Basketball Examiner to only receive email notifications when articles are published.  Examiner will not send any other email to you other than article notifications.

3 points - Support the Thunderclap campaign to send out support for the Operation Jack satellite runs this December.  They support the Autism Society and many more charity organizations.  You can support with a twitter or Facebook account.  You simply click on the link to support from Twitter or Facebook and allow the app to post the message to your account if we get enough supporters.

1 point - Support the Thunderclap campaign to send out a call to Chrissie Wellington not to retire.  You can support with a twitter or Facebook account.  You simply click on the link to support from Twitter or Facebook and allow the app to post the message to your account if we get enough supporters.

That's 24 points for 24 entries into the contest... not bad.

Rules
  1. Winners can only be in the United States or Canada.  I appreciate everyone outside of North America if you read this blog, but rounding up funds to ship overseas or down south isn't feasible.
  2. YOU MUST POST YOUR POINT TOTAL as a comment on this post.  If you don't, I cannot guarantee you will be entered.  Hopefully one post with your total, but if you have to do some here and there and post a few comments, I'll let it slide.
  3. You will get ONE entry per ONE POINT.  So if you follow a twitter account and send out a tweet, that's 2 points and 2 entries.
  4. Any point you earn has to be something new.  If you already follow a twitter account, that will not count for this contest.  There's 24 opportunities, so there should be plenty to get points for.
  5. In your comment, please include a first name, last initial and state where you are from.  This will be how you get identified in the drawing.
  6. Pay attention for the winner announcement.  You will need to follow the instructions on getting a hold of me to get your 910XT.
  7. Entries end on December 24, 11:59pm.  Winner will be drawn Christmas afternoon.  No exceptions.
  8. READ THIS : This contest will only go to a drawing IF 75 unique entries have been received.  That means 75 different people will need to enter for a chance to win.  Point totals do not count towards this.  If in the event we do not reach 75, the contest will end revisions will be made.  If we are coming up short, better help spread the word!
  9. In the event background checking is done and tampering or cheating has been found, the contest will be cancelled.
Contact me for clarifications if anything is confusing.  falkeetriathlon @ hotmail com.

GOOD LUCK!

Fluid Giveaway Winner - 5/8/11

And the winner of the FLUID Recovery giveaway is....

Christi from Pedestrian Runner!

How did I pick her?

Very eloquent if you ask me.  I assigned numbers to entries based in the order received and how many entries each person had.  That got us to 21.  To not leave it completely to fate on one draw, I used Random.org and the first person with 3 hits on their entry numbers won.

Christi got to 3 hits first!  From the looks of her blog posts, she's picking up the training so she could probably use some recovery drink!

Congrats.  Hit me up at falkeetriathlon @ hotmail . com with your mailing address and all of this sweet goodness is YOURS!

Thanks all for playing!

Sniff Sniff, Good Bye ZIPPS

Ebay auction over, wheels will hit the mail tomorrow. I hope they go to a good home. I'll miss them... moment of silence for the departed.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

OK, enough pity. Moving on. Looking forward to the weekend. Em will be home as opposed to working for various reasons and it'll be nice to get some errands in, kid play in, grocery run in, church and who knows what else! You don't really realize how much you missed goofing around doing stuff around the house with the wife when you go a few weekends without them. =)

Also, check out the new site layout! Old layout was getting stale, I thought. Looking to add some more sponsor and affiliate buttons to spruce it up! Let me know what you think (I'll take CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, so be nice).

TRAINING
I counted shoveling snow as lifting weights. I had to shovel twice as we got 13 inches in Olathe where I live. Plus the snow plow packs a nice dense snow at the end of the driveway when they clean the streets. Good times.

Cycling : 30 miles - another ride planned this weekend
Running : 6.5 miles - another run planned this weekend
Swimming : 4100 yards
Total Time : 6.5 hours - 3 hours of it was shoveling snow...arg

EXAMINER
Rock the Parkway offering training runs and discounts for charity fund raisers!

GIVEAWAY
Collecting some stuff this weekend, hopefully next week!  Stay tuned, tell your friends!

SUPER BOWL
Can I call it that with the NFL owning the rights to the name?  Who knows.  But, I'll be trying to watch while wrangling kiddos and I'm not sure who I want to win.  I think the Steelers will win b/c they have the better defense but Big Ben has just been so off the wall, not sure how I would feel with him having 3 SB rings.

Here's another text convo gone wrong.

Needed Pictures

Saturday's run in the snow was epic.  Man vs nature... the temps weren't the issue, the issue was that residents didn't shovel their sidewalks.  Sure, it made the workout tougher to run in 6 inches of snow, but on some spots I had to run in the street, no good.

I wish I would have snapped a few pictures, but I didn't want to stop my momentum.  For those of you that run in snow on a regular basis, props.  I compare it to running on trails in mud.

Did I use super advanced YakTraxs or something?  No.  Outdoor soccer cleats.  They worked pretty sweet except for wearing too low cut socks and rubbing a nice blister on one foot.

High alert!  TriVillage is having 15% off sale right now!  Check it out.  Buy me something...!  =)

TRAINING
Got a solid week in last week.  I counted the hour and 15 minutes of shoveling snow as weight lifting... I mean, it was solid snow.  That made the week numbers look even better in addition to trudging through snow on Saturday.  I need to start focusing on pool time now.

Last week:
57 miles biking - all on trainer - bleh
15.75 miles running
5500 yards swimming
9.1 hours total

EXAMINER
Little article sharing what I learned at Church lately.  No, not only about religion but how to apply that to the real world and time management.

REVIEWS

From their site, "Giveaway Scout is a giveaway search engine. Our users subscribe to receive updates on the latest giveaways on the web. Add your blog and your giveaways will be exposed to our large network or users."

Stay tuned for any future giveaways!

PS - Flatout Jim, still need somewhere to send your socks! =)

Monday, August 16, 2010

And the Winner is...

Drumroll please... FLATOUT Jim. With 3 entries, Jim accounting for 2, I had a "first to 2 picks" wins. After the 4th random.org number generator, I got entry 2 a second time, which was Jim. Congrats! Send me a email (link to the right) or comment with where to send the socks and be ready to enjoy the fart power! I promise no junk mail. =)

This week was suppose to be a 12+ hour training week. I got my miles in, but I only got 10 hours in. Maybe I'm getting faster? =) With so much going on (wife in the hospital, 2 year old, finishing the basement, sleep, work) I guess training was on the back burner. =) I did get out for a 50 mile ride Saturday morning and it was almost COLD! We FINALLY got a break in the heat here in KC and it was mid 70's Saturday and Sunday morning. My 11 mile run Sunday was a lot springier than usual keeping around a 8:15 pace. I was pretty happy with that.

It's in the 60's RIGHT NOW! SIXTIES!!!!!!! Holy cow I need to get out of work and hit the pavement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my latest Examiner Article about a local BIKE TOUR here in KC.

And as much as it pains me... I'm selling a road bike. It's my first "real" roadie and it pains me... With kiddo 2 on the way, we need more room (wife wouldn't let me sell kid 2 instead) and really, I don't need 3 bikes. Craigslist ad coming soon so spread the word if you know anyone looking for a bike. Willing to ship if someone wants it out of state. Please ignore the de-construction of my entry way in the picture. =) Dura Ace components, I'm the 2nd owner, never wrecked, 2003, aluminum, size 56, great bike! Message me if you want to know more.
